What is the Public Health Nurse Practice Council (PHNPC)?

Mission of PHNPC

The mission of the Public Health Nurse Practice Council (PHNPC) is to provide a strong and unified statewide representation of public health nursing practice within Colorado and to promote recognition of public health nursing as a specialized profession. Vision of PHNPC Public health nursing within Colorado is recognized and respected as an essential and integral part of the cornerstone of public health and the nursing profession.

Purpose of PHNPC:

  • To strengthen the profession of public health nursing by providing a venue in which public health nursing practice-related issues can be fully vetted. To support collaboration and cooperation among public health nurses and other partners within Colorado.
  • To partner with and provide recommendations to nursing decision-makers, policy-makers and academic institutions so that they may make informed decisions regarding issues that drive the professional practice of public health nursing.
  • To create an avenue for public health nurses to present practice related issues and topics for further examination.
  • To provide opportunities for public health nurses to be more involved with advancing public health nurse practice.

PHNPC Meetings are held every other month on the fourth Monday from 12:30 - 2:00.
